Description

Regatta Strategy Kit POCKET | Protest Kit

The ultimate tool for coaches, sailors and race officials who want maximum clarity when explaining maneuvers, right of way (RRS) and upwind or downwind strategy.

The POCKET version fits in one hand! Super practical to take to regattas.

Thanks to the embedded neodymium magnets, the pieces stay firmly attached to magnetic boards, so you can use it vertically without anything moving out of place.

Race strategy kit printed in full-color PETG and fitted with neodymium magnets.

🔧 Technical Specifications and Materials

Material: PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol). We chose it because it offers far better impact and temperature resistance than standard PLA. It does not deform if left in the sun at the yacht club storage.

Magnetic technology: High-power neodymium magnets embedded inside the piece (they do not come off or unglue).

• Brand: 3D Tech
• Model: Pocket Ultra-Compact (design optimized to carry in hand)
• Manufacturing technology: additive manufacturing / professional 3D printing (FDM)
• Base material: high impact resistance PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)
• Thermal properties: dimensional stability up to 75°C (does not deform under direct sun on deck)
• Chemical resistance: good resistance to salt water, humidity and sun.
• Fastening system: encapsulated embedded neodymium (high magnetic power magnets)

Advanced Nautical Durability
Unlike generic models injected in conventional plastics, our regatta strategy kit is produced by additive manufacturing with advanced technical polymers. Engineering-grade PETG keeps the boats from deforming under direct sun on deck and resists salt water corrosion.

Nautical Optimization and Racing Rules Compliance
This interactive kit is developed following the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) issued by World Sailing. It is the standard tool used by coaches, race officials, yacht club judges and helmsmen in classes such as Optimist, Laser (ILCA), Cadet, 29er, J70 and formula boats to resolve protests, analyze race tactics, right of way and mark roundings.

📖 How to use the kit?
Designed for coaches, sailors and yacht club judges who need to simulate tactical situations in real time. Thanks to its high-grip magnetic components, it works aboard boats, on vertical boards or in crew meetings exposed to wind and water movement. Instructions for use and tactical exercise suggestions are on our 3D Tech Blog.

The kit

What is the 3D Tech Regatta Strategy Kit?

It is a magnetic, full-color 3D-printed PETG kit for explaining tactics, analyzing races and rebuilding protest situations on any whiteboard or metal surface. It is designed by and for sailors, and used by coaches, helmsmen, race officials and sailing clubs.

What is included in the kit?

The kit includes 12 magnetic boats with interchangeable magnetic sails (5 red, 5 green and 2 yellow), 8 magnetic cylindrical windward and leeward marks (5 yellow and 3 purple), a committee boat, a wind direction arrow and a current direction arrow. The Standard kit also includes a set of 8 interchangeable magnetic race signal flags. Everything comes in a 3D-printed compartment box with a sliding lid, so no piece gets lost in transit.

What is the difference between the Standard and the Pocket kit?

The Standard kit includes the race signal flags. The Pocket kit is an ultra-compact version that fits in one hand, ideal to carry aboard, and includes the other elements without the flags. The current price is always shown on each product page.

Can it be used as a protest kit?

Yes. The same kit works as a race strategy kit and as a protest kit: it lets judges, sailors and coaches rebuild a race situation with boats, marks and wind and current arrows.

Which boat classes and uses is it suited for?

It is a whiteboard tool used by coaches, race officials, yacht club judges and helmsmen in classes such as Optimist, ILCA (Laser), Cadet, 29er and J70, among others. It helps to explain maneuvers, analyze race tactics, resolve protests, define right of way and practice mark roundings.

Is it based on the racing rules?

Yes. It is developed following the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), so it works well to explain right of way and protest situations.

How does it stay on the board?

Each piece has embedded neodymium magnets that give a firm grip on any whiteboard or metal surface. The sails are magnetic and interchangeable too, so you can tell the fleets apart.

Can I add more boats, marks or committee boats?

Yes. The store has accessories to expand the kit, such as additional boats, mark sets and committee boats.
